Comments about Sports Tutor Sports Tutor Tennis Tutor Plus Player Tennis Ball Machine:

We bought this ball machine for our 13 year girl. It is hard to arrange a schedule to let her play with a partner as both of us working.Ball machine's function is working well and a lot of features are adding on in this model. It is a real competitive for between beginner and an intermediate player. After two –times using it, as parent, we like it, ball machine looks like a hitting partner. But my daughter, she says she prefers a real hitting partner. I think she will like it eventually.

Comments about Sports Tutor Sports Tutor Tennis Tutor Plus Player Tennis Ball Machine:

It's awesome. We took it to the park and gave it a test. We ran it for two hours, and we ran out of energy before the charge did. We tried the 2 line narrow and 2 line wide. Both worked great. Speed of the balls, the spin, height, and frequency were easy to adjust. We didn't have a chance to try the player mode yet.

We were the envy of the court. Several people asked us about it.

The only downside is the price. I am not saying it's a bad value; it's just expensive. I wonder how many people would buy one if they were a little less costly?

As far as transportation, it wasn't too heavy to lift when needed (Note that it's not light weight; it's a sturdy machine that propels these balls at high speeds. I might think an older person, a very light person, or maybe someone with a history of shoulder or back problems would want to be very careful lifting it.) It was easy to roll. It would not fit in the trunk of my sedan. I would have probably been able to put it in the front passenger seat or back seat though. Instead, we took the SUV.

We noticed that if we put too many balls in the hopper, it didn't work as well. The balls would not go into the opening. Someone would need to adjust the pile by gently pushing the pile. In other words, increased friction from the larger pile prevented the balls from dropping.

In conclusion, we are happy with it. It would be nice to be able to give a review after one season of usage.

Just receieved the Sports Tutor Tennis Tutor Plus Player Tennis Ball Machine and I have to say it meets my expectations. If you look at the reviews of others I would mostly concur. It functions very well and is consistent. The only draw back I see are small wheels for transport and the short handle. It is easy to transport on smooth surfaces but I feel the need to carry it on rough surfaces, dirt or grass- you could probably get a small portable hand truck to transport it easier. Also, I got mine without the remote and I think that although [$] is a little insane for a remote, it would make adjusting the machine a lot easier. Overall, very happy with purchase.

My son loves the machine and was so excited to receive as a gift. Problem is that it is difficult to load and unload. He is 14 and I am a woman. It doesn't fit in my car Lexus 350 ES and we have to borrow my mother's SUV to get to the courts. I think that was a bit of a let down for my son because he doesn't like it when others have to do much for his playing. We need a ramp and a man. Together we get it done. Other than that, it works great once it is set up!

Plastic flaps that hold balls weren't stable and fell when a ball hit it. When we modified the speeds or playing level, the balls would spew erraticly. We had a lot of problems after day 3 and returned the machine. We highly recommend the I-SAM 3 for comparable value, sturdiness, and consistency.

Comments about Sports Tutor Sports Tutor Tennis Tutor Plus Player Tennis Ball Machine:

There are many ways this product can be used. I have found it useful in the following ways:

- Improve your forehand and backhand with repeated shots.
- You can have competitive rallies.
- You can improve footwork by playing the same shot over and over again.
- Gives you a tough practice in an hour which is equivalent to probably 3 hours of match play.
- If you leave in a place where either it is too cold or you do not have anybody to play with then this could be your best and toughest partner.

Except for Return of service and side spin you can practice all the tennis shots. I am very happy with this product.

Comments about Sports Tutor Sports Tutor Tennis Tutor Plus Player Tennis Ball Machine:

This unit is great for preparing for tournament. If you know you're going to be playing someone who hits with heavy topspin, you can set-up the unit for that. The same goes for heavy slicers, or dinkers, or moonballers or whatever. Although, there is nothing better than practicing and playing with a skilled person, this unit is a pretty good substitute when you're hard pressed to find someone.

Service & Delivery comments:

The unit arrived promptly and in good condition. It delivered on the features it promised.

After a month and a half, I love it! I can hit whenever I want. I have even taken it on vacation. The unlimited repetitions have helped me develop a more consistent two handed backhand. I'm not sure the player function or remote give you enough added value to warrant the cost. (Maybe more function control from the remote in future models?) and I was a bit disappointed in the length of a full-powered session after a full charge(20 hours) - a full 1.5 hours at 45 to 60 mph - but that does not detract from the enjoyment both my friends and I derive from using the machine. Bottom line: I am so happy I bought it!!!

Comments about Sports Tutor Sports Tutor Tennis Tutor Plus Player Tennis Ball Machine:

This is the second review I have written. In the first I was disgusted. With no change in settings the first use could not place two balls in a row within a 10 foot circle. This was with oscillation off and minimul topspin. I had followed the owners manual exactly. One item the owners manual specified was to start with used tennis balls. Personally, I beleave this to be in error. The second use I did all the same actions as starting EXCEPT I used new tennis balls. This time the majority of the balls landes within a reasonable area of one another. I didn't expect all the balls to land exactly in the same place, but somewhat close.

At the moment I am using the machine to regain muscle memory following rotator cuff surgery. I found out quickly it is to be a long process.

To this point I have found nothing great about it. Just a few things which are acceptable.

Things not so great. Won't fit into my trunk. I drive a BUICK regal so it does not have a small trunk. Handle needs to telescope as the machine runs on the heals of my feet while pulling it. Wheels need to be larger and softer to roll on rough pavement or dirt. I did not purchase the optional remote because it only controls oscillation and on/off and is very expensive for such limited use. And I think the remote control should be included with the machine,i.e., not optional.

At this time I would not recommend this machine to a friend. At this time it has not proven to be able to do what I purchased it for. I may in the future, but not right now.

Comments about Sports Tutor Sports Tutor Tennis Tutor Plus Player Tennis Ball Machine:

The best I can say at this time is it does throw tennis balls. One of the reasons for the machine was I have recently had rotator cuff surgery. I was looking for a way to recover muscle memory. I know ball machines are not perfect but I was very lucky to get two balls in a row within 10 feet of each other. This was with osilation off, one notch above level evelation and one notch of top spin from center with a speed of 40 mph. Now to be clear. I received this request for comments well before the machine arrived. It has rained all but two days since receiving it. I followed the instructions to a tee but have only used it one time. After the 10 hour breakin period and being able to use new tennis balls (suppose to use old balls the first 10 hours)I hope I like it much more. If not I will have wasted a great deal of limited resources to no avail. Also, it will not fit in the trunk of my car. I must admit it is very good at wearing it's seatbelt. LOL

The machine works great once you get it set up but the controls are difficult to use and in an inconveniet location. You have to lay on the ground to see and operate the controls and they are difficult to adjust once I get on the ground to see them. This was something I was worried about when I was shopping. But because you can't go to a store to look at the things there's no way to know. I like the square shape and the players feature. I think the handle and the wheels could use some work and tennis tudor really need to work on the controls

Comments about Sports Tutor Sports Tutor Tennis Tutor Plus Player Tennis Ball Machine:

I run a basic 1 hour workout with about 40-50 balls in the hopper. It makes a tough 2.5 minute rally with 2.5 minutes to reload the hopper. I hit over 200 balls in an hour. That is the equivalent of a match. To warm up I set the machine slower than actual play for the first hopper of balls. Then I increase the speed to play speed. I count the balls I hit out. I concentrate on hitting the first 10 shots of each hopper well with placement. The rest works on endurance. When you can hit all 40 balls solid and fair with depth and placement it is time to increase the difficulty.Arguably, the serve, service return, and the next shot after each are the most important in tennis. But staying in and controlling the point during rallies comes next. The increase in your performance in this area is immediate with Tennis Tutor. It actively discourages trying to end a point too soon because, like Roger Federer, no matter how good your shot Tennis Tutor always hits another. It is a great assistance in learning to set up and control a point. At a given level of difficulty it does not take long to get to the point where you are able to think; to think about where and why you will hit the next shot. I have always had a good serve and service return so historically I rely on that and try to end points too fast. If I won points on my serve I won the match, if not I lost too often. This machine has significantly improved my ability to stay in a point, set it up, and control it. The controls are great. I usually set the machine with strong top spin, It never throws the ball exactly the same twice. Using balls with different amounts of wear adds to the variety. After I play with a partner with new balls I add them to the hopper and discard the oldest balls in the hopper. My doubles partners can practice too. I set the machine on a stand so balls originate from ordininary hitting height. You can set the machine anywhere on the court and adjust the oscillation as you like. I sometimes set the machine so that some balls are out, adding to my ability to judge fair balls. It is great for overheads and net work too.The components are at least good quality if not excellent. I have not had it long enough to judge that. It is freeer of jams than the many ball machines I have used at clubs. The only problem I have had is that the bracket on the ball shoot came loose after just a few hours. Fortunately, I did not lose the screws. I had to take the machine apart to re-attach the bracket. I got excellent technical support on the phone in this. I talked to another man with the same machine who told me he had the same problem. Once securely re-attached it has not been a problem again. I wish the remote had more controls. I wish there were more player modes pre-programmed--different ability levels and player styles. I have a USTA tennis teaching certificate and this machine would be great to assist in lessons. I budgeted for this machine for two years before purchasing one. It is worth every penny. It is cheaper than clubs. I already paid for the machine at least once [...] in expenses on using ball machines at clubs. I have already got my money's worth from this machine. Now it is free. Perhaps most importantly, Tennis Tutor frees me from always searching for and scheduling partners that are matched to my level of play to provide just the right degree of challenge. Anytime I have an hour I can play with a challenging partner. As I improve so does Tennis Tutor with the turn of a dial. Now I can concentrate on just having fun wth the people I play with. And they like using the machine too. I am working on teaching Tennis Tutor to move around the court during play. He is so good at everything else it seems it should be easy for him to learn footwork too. Enjoy!

Overall a very good product. Has been good at helping to develp shots by repetitive and consistent ball throwing to either a single side, two sides, or multiple locations. A user may need to fuss with speed and spin to control the ball throw and it would be nice if the remote had more than the two functions (such as spin, speed, and change of player style). Have found the machine to be a good training tool with beginners through high intermediate players (2.0 - 4.5+).
